What should I bring with me?
Participants should plan to bring the following items:

  • Bath towel(s), toiletries, and shower shoes (if desired).
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, and maybe a blanket to sit on outside.  NOTE:  Participants will be housed in fully enclosed cabins furnished with twin-size bunk beds.  A foam mattress is provided by Living Waters.
  • Casual clothes – It’s warm during the day but can get chilly at night, so don’t forget to pack jeans and hoodies.
  • Grubby clothes for field games (Dark clothes for night games) and some extra shoes just in case they get wet.
  • Swimsuit, beach towel, and sunscreen for our day at Shawnee State Park or for some creek walking.
  • Bible, Notebook, Pens and/or Pencils.
  • Note pad for affirmation notes (veteran TYCers know these notes of affirmation as “Shoe Notes” – we’ll explain this at camp).
  • Camera, flashlight, and an alarm clock.  Note that you will NOT be permitted to use your mobile phone as a camera or as an alarm clock during the week…NO EXCEPTIONS! Please plan accordingly.
  • Musical instruments you know (or are learning) how to play.
  • Game gear – cards, board games, soccer ball, basketball (we have a court), Frisbee, etc.
  • Cash for soda/pop, T-shirt (cost is NOT included in the registration fee), and other TYC or Living Waters apparel that may be available for purchase during the week.
  • Snacks, if you so choose.  If bringing snacks, please be conscious of their storage…we don’t want to attract any critters!

What time should I pick up my son/daughter?
TYC 2018 officially concludes on Saturday morning, July 28th.  Parents or others providing participants with a ride home should plan to be at Living Waters no later than 11:45am.  The TYC leadership asks that those arriving to pick-up a participant remain on the far side of the bridge (which will be blocked) until the closing ceremony has concluded.  A member of the TYC staff will invite those who are waiting on the far side of the bridge to join us on the other side when the ceremony is over. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

How is the Planning Team selected?
Each year during the week of TYC, a Planning Team application is circulated to those interested in applying.  Applicants are asked to complete and submit their application to the Planning Team Chairperson by the stated deadline.  The adult members of the Planning Team then convene to review the applications received and subsequently communicate their decision to those who apply.  This generally occurs a few weeks after TYC has concluded.  Consideration is given to numerous factors in addition to the contents of the application as decisions are made, including (but not limited to) availability to meet over a specific weekend during the fall at a location to be determined; age; gender; number of years attending TYC; etc.

How is TYC funded?
TYC is insured and supported logistically by the Friends of TYC, which is a non-profit corporation organized with the express purpose of sustaining and growing the important ministry of TYC.  That said, TYC would not exist but for the generous contributions of its partners and sponsors - Click here to view a list of our sponsors.  It should be noted that, now that the Synod of the Trinity is no longer contributing funds to missions or youth ministry, TYC is increasingly in need of financial support.  This is why the Friends of TYC was established and why concerted fundraising efforts are ongoing.  Click here to learn more about our fundraising initiatives or to find out how you can help.  Click here to make a donation.
