What should I bring with me?
Participants should plan to bring the following items:

  • Athletic shoes, clothing, equipment (bring your yoga mats!) for some voluntary Morning Movement.
  • Clothes to wear for Glow in the Dark Day (bring a white shirt or anything glow in the dark or neon), if you'd like.
  • Pajamas to wear for Pajama Day, if you'd like
  • Swimsuit, beach towel, and sunscreen for our day at Shawnee State Park or for some creek walking.
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, and maybe a blanket to sit on outside.  NOTE:  Participants will be housed in fully enclosed cabins furnished with twin-size bunk beds.  A foam mattress is provided by Living Waters.
  • Bath towel(s), toiletries, and shower shoes (if desired).
  • Bible, Notebook, Pens and/or Pencils.
  • Note pad for affirmation notes (veteran TYCers know these notes of affirmation as “Shoe Notes” – we’ll explain this at camp).
  • Camera, flashlight, and an alarm clock.  Note that you will NOT be permitted to use your mobile phone as a camera or as an alarm clock during the week…NO EXCEPTIONS! Please plan accordingly.
  • Musical instruments you know (or are learning) how to play.

  • Cash for soda/pop, T-shirt (cost is NOT included in the registration fee), and other TYC or Living Waters apparel that may be available for purchase during the week.
  • Snacks, if you so choose.  If bringing snacks, please be conscious of their storage…we don’t want to attract any critters!

What time should I pick up my son/daughter?
TYC 2024 officially concludes on Saturday morning, July 20th.  Parents or others providing participants with a ride home should plan to be at Living Waters no later than 11:45am.  The TYC leadership asks that those arriving to pick-up a participant remain on the far side of the bridge (which will be blocked) until the closing ceremony has concluded.  A member of the TYC staff will invite those who are waiting on the far side of the bridge to join us on the other side when the ceremony is over. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

How is the Planning Team selected?
To become a member of the youth Planning Team, participants fill out an application and/or request an in-person interview with members of the Adult Planning Team. The Adult Planning Team invites the youth to serve on the Planning Team. Youth can select to serve a one or two year term. At the end of each year, the Adult Planning Team conducts a review to celebrate the accomplishments of the youth and set goals for the following year.

How is TYC funded?
TYC is insured and supported logistically by the Friends of TYC, which is a non-profit corporation organized with the express purpose of sustaining and growing the important ministry of TYC.  That said, TYC would not exist but for the generous contributions of its partners and sponsors - Click here to view a list of our sponsors.  It should be noted that, now that the Synod of the Trinity is no longer contributing funds to missions or youth ministry, TYC is increasingly in need of financial support.  This is why the Friends of TYC was established and why concerted fundraising efforts are ongoing.  Click here to learn more about our fundraising initiatives or to find out how you can help.  Click here to make a donation.
